Y.I.L FELLOWSHIP NIGERIA

The Young Innovation Leaders Fellowship commenced in Nigeria in July 2018 with its first edition. Induction of participants took place in October 2018 following a 4-month invigorating challenge phase. Altogether, 10 participants were inducted into the fellowship. The induction ceremony was colorful with fellows pitching 4 innovations out of their capstone projects. Some of them have ventured into scaling up of their solutions.

The 2019 edition of the fellowship commenced with a boot camp which held from Wednesday, 21st May to Saturday, 26th May at Spicery Hotel, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. The boot camp attracted local and international connoisseurs who came to facilitate sessions and motivate the brilliant participants. This year’s participants were recruited, after successfully scaling through a rigorous 3-stage selection process. Participants were drawn from 21 States of Nigeria and from 30 disciplines. There were also participants from South Africa and Ghana. Participants are skilled professionals less than 28 years old with a track record of excellence. After a 5-day stimulating workshops and training sessions, participants are now working on their capstone projects.

YILx is a new brand from the YIL Fellowship, Nigeria. To achieve our mission of of raising leaders who can inspire, initiate, manage and lead innovation in their spheres, we have decided to expand our platform and distribute this opportunity to more young people in Nigeria. We aim to create strong cohorts of skilled individuals in every single community in Africa who will administer Africa’s solutions, one challenge at a time, and one community at a time.
